Abbas Aliabadi’s nomination as Iran’s next Minister of Industry was given the go light by the Iranian Parliament. On Tuesday, the Iranian parliamentarians discussed Aliabadi’s qualities as a nominee for the position of head of the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade.
Aliabadi, 62 years old, was elected with 187 votes in favor, 58 votes against, and 8 abstentions. He was sworn into office.
In April, a vote of no confidence was cast against the previous minister Reza Fatemi Amin due to his lackluster performance and ineffective management of the industrial development.
In order to gain the vote of confidence from the Parliament, a nominee for a ministerial position needs to receive at least 51 percent of the vote.
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, made statements in January 2022 in which he urged Iranian officials to devise a strategic road map for the development of the country’s industries. He stated that governmental organizations should only supervise and assist economic activities rather than interfere with them.
Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stated Monday she will submit a bill to defund special counsel Jack Smith and his investigation of former President Donald Trump.
“Today, I’d like to announce that I’m writing an appropriations rider to defund Jack Smith, special counsel, his office and the investigation,” Greene said Monday on the House Floor. “This is weaponized government attempt to take down the top political enemy and leading presidential candidate of the United States, Donald J. Trump.”
In November, Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith to examine Trump’s handling of confidential papers he took from the White House to Mar-a-Lago after his tenure ended.
Greene’s revelation comes as Trump is due to be charged Tuesday in Miami, Florida, on 37 classified document and obstruction of justice accusations.
Greene stated Smith’s inquiry against Trump was politically motivated and that Trump was treated differently than Democrats who had deleted secret material.
“We cannot allow the government to be weaponized for political purposes,” she stated. I’d like my colleagues to join me in this endeavour. We must utilize appropriations to curb government weaponization, especially while we know there are real criminals.
She also compared the Justice Department’s Trump investigation to the Clinton investigation.
“That should have been investigated,”
Greene also mentioned President Joe Biden’s sensitive records, which were removed as vice president and located in the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C. Delaware home paperwork were found.
Special counsel Robert Hur is probing Biden’s sensitive document handling.
“Don’t forget Joe Biden’s documents that are sitting in his garage next to his Corvette where the door opens and closes,” Greene remarked. “America sees this for exactly what it is and we will not allow it to stand.”
Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz supported Greene’s idea.
Sunday, Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., said the House should follow its constitutional oversight duties.
“Congress can and should hold the Biden DOJ accountable by defunding their efforts during the appropriations process, executing the Holman Rule to remove and defund corrupt officials, and conducting oversight on its baseless investigations,” Biggs tweeted.
Smith charged Trump with stealing sensitive materials in a 49-page indictment.
These documents contained “information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign counties; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack; and plans for possible retaliation in response to foreign attack,” Smith said.
Smith’s office stated the former president discussed secret material with others. The special counsel claimed he stored them in a Mar-a-Lago ballroom, bathroom, office, bedroom, and storage room.
Megawati Soekarnoputri, the chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), stated on Monday that the country should grow its nuclear capability in a manner similar to that of North Korea. She also urged the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to begin constructing a nuclear reactor.
Megawati stated that it was not too late for Indonesia to catch up with nuclear-weapons states like North Korea in a statement that was made during the signing of an agreement between BRIN and the state-owned broadcaster TVRI.
Megawati made this comment during the signing of the agreement. It is never too late, provided that we are able to build the technology. According to Antara’s transcription of Megawati’s comments, “We can catch up with countries that have nuclear programs.” The matriarch of the PDI-P organization stated that limitations on budgets should not prevent the development of nuclear initiatives.
Megawati holds to North Korea’s nuclear development as an example.
How is it possible for a country like North Korea to advance in its nuclear program? According to Megawati, the issue lies with a lack of available human resources. Since the previous president of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, released a government decree in 2014 that proclaimed nuclear plants “a last resort option” to power the country, Indonesia has been moving away from the idea of constructing nuclear power plants.
In its place, the rule gives more priority to the generation of electricity from coal, natural gas, and renewable sources of energy, namely geothermal, solar, wind, hydropower, bio, and tidal energy. Over the course of the past several years, a number of private companies have shown an interest in the construction of nuclear power stations with a lower capacity.
Power producer ThorCon International Pte Ltd, located in Washington, has been in talks with Indonesian regulators and state-owned companies in an effort to establish a floating nuclear power station with a capacity of 500 megawatts in the Southeast Asian nation by the year 2027.

Aisha Yesufu, a well-known social critic in Nigeria, has criticized the political elites for “thinking they own the judiciary just as they once thought they owned the electoral process.” She said this in reference to the elites’ attitude toward the electoral process.
According to Yesufu, the lack of involvement by residents was what provided the government the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of illegal activities.
Politicians believe the courts are in their hands.
It would appear that she was reacting to anything that was said during President Bola Tinubu’s “Democracy Day” address to the country.
Tinubu made the following statement: “It has become imperative to state here that the unnecessary illegal orders that are used to truncate or abridge democracy will no longer be tolerated.”
On the other side, the advocate for good governance stated that the situation has changed in a statement that she published via her verified Twitter handle on Monday. She added that this was due to the increased participation of citizens in political processes.
In a written statement, she stated, “They think they own the judiciary just as they once thought they owned the electoral process.”
“The lack of participation on the part of the citizens is what gave them the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of unlawful activities,” she said. Citizens are taking part in the process at this time. Simply concentrate! EVERY EYE ON THE JUDICIARY RIGHT NOW!”

The Leader stressed the West’s unreliability in a Sunday meeting with nuclear specialists and officials in Tehran.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised Iranian nuclear management, authorities, and activists for building vital nuclear facilities.
“Nothing is wrong with (reaching) agreements, but the infrastructure must remain intact,” the Leader said. Protect them. They’re others’ work.”
Ayatollah Khamenei further noted that opponents use the erroneous idea that Iran is developing nuclear weapons to attack the nation. The enemy know the assertion is a fraud, he said.
“For twenty years, the enemies have presented us with a nuclear challenge because they know that progress in the nuclear industry is key to our scientific advancement,” the Leader said. “The enemies know nuclear weapons are a lie.”
Iran would never develop nuclear weapons
“Based on our Islamic basis, we do not want nuclear weapons. Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Otherwise, they (enemies) would not have been able to stop it, as until now they could not stop our nuclear developments.”
The Leader stressed that the nuclear sector was vital to the nation’s might, credibility, and strength, developing several fields.

Monday morning, the Iranian president boarded a flight in Tehran bound for Caracas, the first stop of a three-nation trip of Latin American countries that will also take him to Nicaragua and Cuba.
Raisi told reporters at the airport in Tehran that the majority of Latin American governments desire to live freely, share the spirit of pursuing freedom, independence, and fight against the hegemonic system, and have friendly ties with Iran. He made these statements at the airport in Tehran.

Independent legislator Rep. Yang Hyang-ja, a former chip technician for Samsung Electronics, plans to launch a new political party.
On June 26, Yang, 56, will conduct a debut event for the party at the Korea Federation of SMEs’ KBIZ Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. An announcement regarding the new party, including details on its members, will be made during the launch event. No other information could be offered, Yang’s office informed The Korea Herald on Monday.
In South Korea, where the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea and the ruling People Power Party effectively control the country’s parliament, Yang is the most recent politician to attempt to create a new party.
Samsung technician-turned-lawmaker to launch political party
Former Democratic Party of Korea member and dovish liberal politician Keum Tae-sup announced his desire to found a new party, and Kim Chong-in, the former Democratic Party chairman, backed him in this.
The sole member of the National Assembly having semiconductor industry knowledge is Yang. Since 1986, when she first began working at Samsung Electronics, she has been a memory chip technician. Since 2014, she worked as an executive at Samsung Electronics who was focused on flash memory semiconductors.
2016 saw Yang’s entry into politics. She has been the electorate of Gwangju Seo-gu Eul since winning a general election in 2020.
Yang was dismissed from the Democratic Party in July 2021 as a result of allegations that one of her secretaries had harassed a fellow party member sexually. Yang has continued to be independent.
After the police exonerated the congressman, Yang attempted to rejoin the Democratic Party. However, she later withdrew her application because she disagreed with the party’s position on legislation that would have limited the prosecutor’s authority.
The People Power Party-sponsored special committee Yang headed in 2022 produced legislation in December that pushed for a tax cut of at least 8% for chipmakers to support the country’s semiconductor sector.
She presently works for a National Assembly standing committee on small and medium-sized businesses, energy, commerce, industry, and startups.
On June 8, 2023, televangelist Pat Robertson, 93, died. His main show, “The 700 Club,” drew a million people daily.
In 2018, Robertson created the first 24-hour Christian television news station. In 1977, he launched Christian Broadcasting Network University in Virginia Beach, which became Regent University in 1990.
The Conversation’s researchers have noted Robertson’s huge impact on American politics for years. After losing the 1988 Republican presidential nomination, he continued to influence politics through his famous program.
Three pieces from our archives describe how he brought religion into U.S. politics.
Religious rights and public policy
The 1979 Jerry Falwell-founded Moral Majority included Roberston. The “Religious Right” was a broad alliance of conservatives, predominantly white evangelical Christians, stated USC Dornsife historian Richard Flory.
James Dobson, Tim LaHaye, Pat Robertson, and Phyllis Shlafly had a huge impact on American politics and public policy.
Flory called the group’s objective “a familiar agenda”: “traditional” family values, prayer in schools, resistance to LGBT rights, the Equal Rights Amendment, abortion, and other problems.
As host of “The 700 Club,” Robertson made controversial and racially offensive remarks. He likened gays to robbers and murderers.
Mixing Christianity and America
The Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol was influenced by Christian nationalism, according to historian Samuel Perry.
He highlighted that evangelical Christian media promotes Christian nationalism, which argues that Christians fear being oppressed unless they control the state.
In recent years, white evangelical Christian radio stations have grown. Robertson’s Christian Broadcast Network “similarly blends politics with religion,” according to Perry.
Robertson decried the Capitol attack but had predicted Trump’s reelection.
Perry says Roberton’s mix of politics and religion “conflates Christian identity with American identity” but doesn’t necessarily promote Christian nationalism.
Longstanding Christian media
The Christian Broadcasting Network has influenced evangelicals greatly. Trump occasionally reached this support base via the network.
Since the 19th century, Christians have “shared and shaped the content of world news and information through a distinctly Christian viewpoint,” according to Jason Bruner at Arizona State University.
He explained how eastern US and Western European Christians used Christian missionary magazines as informal foreign journalists.
Those missionaries emphasized Assyrian and Armenian Christian slaughter in the eastern Ottoman Empire. They also helped generate international opposition to King Leopold of Belgium’s ruthless rule in the decades around the start of the 20th century, when 10 million people died.
Robertson “created a global Christian identity through knowledge production” and greatly influenced U.S. religion and politics, Bruner stated.
